LEBANON, Indiana ? Authorities say a teenage boy was badly injured when he fell from a float after a central Indiana city's Independence Day parade and was run over by the trailer.

The 15-year-old fell from the float representing a youth sports team as it returned to a staging area Thursday afternoon following the parade in Lebanon.

Fire Chief Jason Lee tells WTHR-TV (http://bit.ly/19Xw7o2 ) that investigators didn't immediately know why the boy fell and don't believe the driver of the pickup truck pulling the float did anything wrong.

The boy suffered internal injuries and was taken in serious condition to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

A 39-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son also fell from the float after the teen fell, but police say their injuries were minor.
